I started my adventures close to home as I took on an old ride from my past "the Mohawk Park Ride". The Tulsa Parks department has done quite a bit of repaving since my last time on that old rode and it has made it a much more comfortable and relaxing ride. If you are unfamiliar with the area, Mohawk Park lies just north of the Tulsa International Airport, I have included a map with the route on it.
The park itself was built back in the 1920's on about 2800 acres of land as a part of the CCC and WPA (depression era federal work programs) to give Tulsan's a place to visit and view the animals at Mohawk Zoo. This ride consists of approx. 9 1/2 miles of paved road as it winds around the park lands, a golf course, and a city water supply. The roads are nicely curved and ridden on by bicycle riders, and classic car owners. With a speed limit of only 25mph it allows you to enjoy the ride and the scenery too.
One thing that I really like about this ride is that there are so many places that if you want to pull over and rest or explore the area you can, and with all the shade trees available you can rest and relax for as long as you want.
