This was a very fun and surprising run for the goldwing, and with all the extra places to stop along the way this trip ate up a good part of the afternoon.  The trip actually started on the 1st Street exit of I-244 in Tulsa, being that close to the center of the universe we just had to stop and take it in.  From there we traveled to a part of the orginal Route 66 to 23rd St and followed it to the newly paved Avery Drive next to Chandler Park.  This newly paved stretch of road runs along the Arkansas River and provides some nice views.  We followed it until we reached the Arkansas River bridge of Hwy 97 in Sand Springs.  We took Hwy 97 up to Old Country Road, located approx. 1 mile north of Main Street on McKinley Ave.  This road is a nicely paved twisty road for about a or so then remains twisty but on older pavement continuing and flatens out onto West Edison Ave.  We stopped by the Hambuger house for a chocolate malt and fries then continued on Edison past Central High School, then the oldest park in Tulsa Owen Park.  On display there is the oldest home in Tulsa which I actually lived when I was very young.  We then rode on to N. Denver passing the Duct Tape Arena, the old Civic Center and turned south onto Riverside Drive.e the time to relax and ride down Riverside you will see many historic landmarks and parks.  Our trip ended at the River Spirit Casino, where well................. thats for the next trip.
